Name: Ganesh Prasad DHAKAL
Mr. Dhakal is married to Mrs. Anima Acharya Dhakal and they have two children.
Ambassador Mr. Dhakal assumed office in the Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok on 9 June 2019. He is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Kingdom of Thailand based in Bangkok and non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Republic of Singapore and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Ambassador Mr. Dhakal is also Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UNESCAP and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology.
Earlier, Ambassador Mr. Dhakal served as Joint Secretary (Director General) and Head of various Divisions/Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from April 2015 to June 2019. He was Head of North East Asia Division from November 2016 to June 2019, Director General of the Department of Consular Services from June 2015 to November 2016 and Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division from April 2015 to June 2015.
Ambassador Mr. Dhakal also served in Nepali diplomatic missions abroad in different capacities. He was Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d’ Affairs in the Embassy of Nepal, Doha from May 2013 to April 2015. He was also Minister Counsellor in the Embassy of Nepal, Berlin from October 2007 to January 2012. In his first diplomatic assignment, Mr. Dhakal was Second Secretary and later First Secretary in the Embassy of Nepal, Moscow from August 1999 to August 2003.
Ambassador Mr. Dhakal participated in many regional and international forums as a member of the Nepali delegation.
Mr. Dhakal joined the Foreign Ministry as Section Officer in February 1996.
He has received Master Degree from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
