Career Development: 

Ambassador Mr. Dhakal assumed the office in the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok on 9 June 2019. He presented the Letters of Credence as Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UNESCAP to the Under Secretary General and Executive Secretary H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana on 5 August 2019. Ambassador Mr. Dhakal presented his Letters of Credence to then President H.E. Mr. Bounnhang Vorachith as non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to Lao PDR on 7 February 20220. Likewise, Ambassador Mr. Dhakal presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Kingdom of Thailand on 24 October 2020. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology.

Earlier, Ambassador Mr. Dhakal served as Joint Secretary (Director General) and Head of the Division/Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from April 2015 to June 2019.  He was Head of North East Asia Division from November 2016 to June 2019, Director General of the Department of Consular Services from June 2015 to November 2016 and Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division from April 2015 to June 2015.

Mr. Dhakal has also experiences of services in Nepali missions in various capacities. He served in the Embassy of Nepal in Doha as Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d’ Affairs a.i. from May 2013 to April 2015. He served in the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin as Minister Counsellor from October 2007 to January 2012. In his first diplomatic assignment, Mr. Dhakal served in the Embassy of Nepal in Moscow as Second Secretary and later as First Secretary from August 1999 to August 2003.

Mr. Dhakal joined the Foreign Ministry as Section Officer in February 1996.

Mr. Dhakal has received Master Degree from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.


-Participation in the Japanese Language Study Programme organized in Osaka by the Japan Foundation from October 1997 to June 1998

-Participation in the Understanding Modern China Programme organised in Beijing by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in May-June 2007

-Participation in the regional and international forums as a member of the Nepali delegation

-Participation in the Senior Executive Seminar on “Policy and Strategy in World Conflicts organized by Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies, Washington DC in February 2018.
