Right Honourable Prime Minister’s Visit to Viet Nam – Day 2

Today, in the morning, Prime Minister Right Honourable Mr. K P Sharma Oli visited Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quang Ninh Province of Viet Nam. He was welcomed and briefed about the place by the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Provincial Council of the Province.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister visited Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi. He was welcomed by His Excellency Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister for Industry and Trade of Viet Nam, and Mr. Vo Tiek Loc, President of VCCI. The Prime Minister addressed the Vietnam-Nepal Business Forum. He briefed the Forum about Nepal’s present situation, economic situation in particular. He informed the audience about business and investment opportunities in Nepal, and invited the Vietnamese business community to invest in Nepal. Viet Nam’s Minister for Industry and Trade, President of VCCI and President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha also addressed the gathering.

Again this afternoon, the Prime Minister visited Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Hanoi. He was welcomed by Pro. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee and President of the Academy. Prof. Xuan briefed the Prime Minister about the Academy. The Prime Minister addressed the crowded gathering of lecturers, academicians, students and professionals. He spoke about his views about President Ho Chi Minh, and highlighted Nepal’s continued efforts for sovereignty, independence and peace,a nd the focus of Nepali government and people on economic development.

Later in the evening, the Prime Minister launched the book Nepal: Peace is at Hand. The book is the Vietnamese version of the English book written by Ven Thay Huyen Dieu. As the book is about Nepal, it is expected to further publicise Nepal in Viet Nam and thus contribute to promote bilateral understanding and Nepal’s tourism. The prime Minister also addressed the gathering.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Hon. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Ambassador of Nepal to Viet Nam H.E. Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari, Viet Nam’s Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Pham Sanh Chau, Advisors to the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Parliamentarians, senior government officials, business delegation, media persons and the delegation members were present during the programmes.
