Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister returns home after completion of official visits to Vietnam and Cambodia
The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Mr. KP Sharma Oli left Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia, for Nepal via Bangkok this afternoon.
At the Phnom Penh airport, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was seen off by H. E. Mr. Say Sam Al, Minister of Environment of Cambodia, H. E. Mrs. Eat Sophea, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H. E Mr. Ung Sean, Ambassador of Cambodia to Nepal and other high-ranking officials of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
Earlier this morning, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister visited the Win-Win Memorial Monument in Phnom Penh. The Memorial is constructed to commemorate the day when Cambodia “successfully ended its protracted civil war and fully achieved total peace and stability as a result of the Win-Win Policy” of the Cambodian Prime Minister H. E. Samdech Hun Sen. The policy was a strategy aimed at dismantling the Khmer Rouge’s political-military organisation and achieve harmony and reconciliation in the Cambodian society after the civil war. As an effort to establish peace and reconciliation, the former rebels were given three types of guarantees by the state: namely, the guarantee of physical and life security, the guarantee of continued employment for livelihood, and the guarantee of protection of all kinds of private property. Cambodia celebrates 29 December as the Win-Win Policy Day, to mark the declaration of the achievement of peace and stability on 29 December 1998.
During all these programmes, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Mr. Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Members of Parliament, senior office bearers of Government of Nepal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Cambodia Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari, business community and other members of his delegation.
At the airport in Bangkok, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by a representative of the Royal Thai Government, the Director General of the Asian, Middle East and African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H. E. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand, had sent a gift to the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister as a token of friendship. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was seen off at the airport in Bangkok by the Director General of Thai Foreign Ministry, H. E. Nepali Ambassador Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari and other Embassy staff.
Accompanying the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, other members of the delegation also returned home this afternoon.
