The Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok organized a promotional programme in Ubon Ratchathani, an eastern province of Thailand, on 19 June 2018. The programme was organized under the theme of ‘Business Opportunities in Nepal’, and aimed at promoting Nepal-Thailand trade and investment relations as well as promoting Nepal’s tourism. A large number of participants including government officials and representatives from Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Authority of Thailand, travel and tour operators, media and other people participated in the programme.
The Governor of the Province, Mr. Sarit Vitoon, participated as the Chief Guest, and also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the historical relations between Nepal and Thailand, and underscored the need for further promoting commercial cooperation between the two countries.
- E. Ambassador Dr. Khaga Nath Adhikari welcomed the participants, and made a detailed presentation on Nepal-Thailand trade relations as well as on the business/investment opportunities in Nepal.
First Secretary Mr. Ramesh Kumar Charmakar made a detailed presentation on tourism opportunities in Nepal. In his presentation, he highlighted tourism attractions and opportunities in Nepal, focusing on three areas: Adventure, Nature and Culture. It may be noted that Thai visitors have been found increasingly interested in trekking in Nepal, and the Embassy has been highlighting this area in such programmes.
Ambassador Dr. Adhikari paid a courtesy call on the Governor in the morning of 19 June. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views about promoting business and tourism relations.
The programme is believed to have contributed to giving added publicity about Nepal and thereby promoting Thai investment and tourism in Nepal.
