Right Honourable Prime Minister’s Visit to Viet Nam – Day 3
Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. K. P. Sharma Oli had a busy schedule in Hanoi today.
In the morning, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister visited the monument of the National Heroes and Martyrs of Viet Nam, and laid wreath there. Then, he went to the Ho Chi Minh’s Memorial, and laid wreath there. He then visited Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and paid tribute to the national hero of Viet Nam.
The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister was accorded an Official Welcome at the Presidential Palace this morning. H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of Viet Nam, extended a warm welcome to the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister. Both Prime Ministers then inspected the guard of honour.
After the official welcoming ceremony, the two sides held official talks at the Government House. The Prime Ministers of Nepal and Viet Nam led their respective delegations to the official talks. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister expressed his happiness over the opportunity to become the first Prime Minister of Nepal to pay an official visit to Viet Nam, and the Prime Minister of Viet Nam expressed his happiness over the opportunity to welcome the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Nepal. The discussions covered the whole gamut of bilateral relations. After the official talks, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of three official documents between Nepal and Viet Nam. The documents include the Agreement on Visa Exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of Consultation Mechanism between the Foreign Ministries of Nepal and Viet Nam, and the Letter of Intent on negotiating and signing the Framework Agreement on trade and economic cooperation. The two Prime Ministers also addressed the press after the official talks.
The two delegations also agreed on and issued a Joint Statement on the occasion of the official visit to Viet Nam by the Prime Minister of Nepal.
In the afternoon, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister visited President Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House, and also observed President Ho’s living and working quarters.
Again in the afternoon, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister visited Viet Nam’s National Assembly. He was welcomed by H. E. Mrs. Ngyuen Thi Kim, President of the National Assembly. The two leaders also held talks at the National Assembly covering a wide range of areas of bilateral experience and relations.
In the evening, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister attended a Dinner hosted by the President of National Assembly of Viet Nam in the National Convention Centre on the occasion of Vesak Day 2019. The Dinner was attended by leaders from some other countries, including H.E. the President of Myanmar, H.E. the Vice President of India, H.E. the Speaker of Bhutan, and others. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister had brief exchanges of views with the other leaders as well.
The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister will attend and address the celebration of the 16th UN Day of Vesak (Buddha’s Birthday) to be held in Ha Nam Province tomorrow, 12 May 2019.
