Business/Tourism Promotion Programme in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The Embassy of Nepal, Bangkok, in association with Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Cambodia, organized a Business/Tourism Promotion programme in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 13 June 2018. The programme was organized under the theme of ‘Business Opportunities in Nepal’. Mr. Sar Sarin, Secretary General, Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA), Mr. Ho Vandy, Secretary General of Cambodia National Tourism Alliance (CNTA), Dr. Mohan Gunti, Tourism Advisor, and other officials were present during the programme. A large number of participants, including business entrepreneurs, travel/tour operators, media persons and representatives of the Nepalese community in Cambodia participated in the programme.
Welcoming the participants, Mr. Prashanta Pradhan, Representative of NRNA, Cambodia spoke about the business/investment opportunities as well as the tourism attractions and opportunities in Nepal. He said that Nepal has many beautiful places to visit, including Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha and that many adventurous activities can be done during the visit. He also stated that Nepal has a lot of business opportunities for foreign investment as Nepal is 3rd in ranking for the Ease of Doing Business among South Asian countries.
Mr. Sar Sarin, Secretary General of CATA thanked the Embassy for organizing the porgramme and said this would help foster and strengthen cooperation between Cambodia and Nepal. He hoped that from that event, they could further link the both countries and play a major role providing great opportunities with a closer cooperation, better understanding, and thus promoting mutual-cooperation between Nepal and Cambodia.
Counsellor/DCM Mr. Janga Bahadur Gurung made presentations on tourism and business opportunities in Nepal. In his presentation on tourism, he highlighted tourism attractions and opportunities in Nepal, focusing on three broad areas: Adventure, Nature and Culture. In his presentation on ‘Business Opportunities in Nepal’, he highlighted various areas for foreign investor, and also mentioned about the investment friendly legal provisions, strategic location, and various facilities & incentives for investors. During the Q & A session participants requested for Nepal Government’s representation there to facilitate Cambodians to obtain Nepali visas easily from Phnom Penh and enquired about the cheaper flight connection between Cambodia and Nepal.
Mr. Dinesh Chalise, Representative from NRNA Cambodia gave a vote of thanks to all the participants and organizers for their cooperation in making the event successful.
Tourism business/promotion materials, such as framed photograph of Mayadevi temple and Boudha, brochure on Lumbini, information about investment opportunities in Nepal, etc. were distributed among the participants.
The programme is believed to have contributed to giving further publicity about Nepal in Cambodia, thereby promoting Nepal’s business/investment/tourism.
